EDGEWOOD, NEW MEXICO WANTS TO BUILD A TOWN CENTER Established in 1999, the town of Edgewood in southwestern Santa Fe County is enjoying a population boom that has seen the number of people living in the town jump from less than 1,000 fourteen years ago to some 3,700 today. As a result Edgewood, which currently houses its administrative offices in a small building at 1911 Historic Route 66, is in the process of planning for new government buildings. One of the most desired new buildings is a town center, which would most likely go up in what is known as Section 16, north of Dinkle Road. Members of the Edgewood Town Council have voted to formally submit an application to the New Mexico State Finance Authority to get a $2.5 million loan to build the center. The NMSFA is specifically designed to help both counties and cities throughout the state finance needed infrastructure projects. A planned construction schedule for the center has not yet been announced.
