EDUC 454P (Main Campus) For those of you currently enrolled in EDUC 499 for the Fall, 2013 semester: There has been some confusion in regards to Lesson Plan 3 (Social Emotional) and the portfolio due in EDUC 499. The Social Emotional Lesson Plan as well as the Reflection Statement for this lesson are required artifacts for the portfolio in EDUC 499. Therefore, you will want to be sure to have these assignments completed before your portfolio due date. When you complete Lesson Plans 1 & 2, your Master Teacher completes the Delivery Rubric. When you complete Lesson Plan 3, the instructor (either Cindy or me) completes the Delivery Rubric. When you are ready to implement Lesson Plan 3, we can set up a day/time for the observation of the lesson plan implementation. Once you have implemented the lesson, you will need to write the Reflective Statement (guidelines in Class Assignments folder on Blackboard). You want to be sure to give yourself plenty of time to plan/implement the lesson as well as write the Reflective Statement. As your portfolio is due in mid-November it would be advisable to implement the lesson by the end of October. We can be flexible with the due dates for the other Lesson Plans. You may choose to implement the Social Emotional Lesson (LP3) before the Integrated Lesson (LP2) with no penalty. The other confusion has been in regards to the Culminating Teaching Experience. You will be conducting your Culminating Teaching Experience during the last three hours of your student teaching. The Culminating Teaching Experience includes elements from your Block Plan (due at the end of the semester). Your instructor (either Cindy or me) will observe you during this three hour period and will complete the Culminating Teaching Experience Rubric and the Final Evaluation Rubric at this time. We will discuss this assignment in more detail as we near the end of the semester. I hope that this clarifies the process for you. If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. Wishing you well,
