EFF FREE STATE PROVINCE CONDEMNS THE DENIAL OF MEETING VENUES BY ANC MUNICIPALITIES: 04 April 2014 The Economic Freedom Fighters in the Free State Province condemns the refusal of the ANC run Maluti a Phofung Municipality to allow Churches in Phuthadithjaba (in Qwaqwa), Free State from holding a prayer meeting where EFF Leaders and incoming Premier Mandisa Makesini were going to attend. On the 27th of March 2014, the Maluti a Phofung Municipality granted Churches under the auspices of the Courageous Christian Church of Zion to hold a prayer meeting at the Phuthadithjaba Stadium and wrote an official letter to confirm this prayer meeting. The Churches in and around Qwaqwa invited all political parties, but upon realising that majority of people who were going to attend the prayer meeting were EFF members, the Municipality pulled out a 1993 Gatherings Act to prevent the Churches from continuing with the Prayer meeting. The Act pulled out by the Municipality still mentions the Minister of Law and Order as the last authority to execute tasks and appeal to. Because they hold the keys to the Phuthadithjaba Stadium, the Maluti a Phofung Municipality have locked the Churches outside and prevented them from holding the meeting at the stadium. This is a total abuse of power and show of desperation by a Municipality which uses apartheid laws to prevent gatherings of churches, simply because they are perceived to be associated with the movement of the people, the EFF. As a result, the EFF has decisively intervened and provided an alternate venue in Robala Lodge, Phuthadithjaba. All believers in prayer, and all the people of the Free State in Qwaqwa are invited to the Prayer meeting of churches in Qwaqwa, which will now happen in Robala Lodge, Phuthadithjaba. Buses from the Phuthadithjaba Stadium to Robala Lodge will be provided from 09H00 in the morning for those who had arranged to go to the Stadium. The Premier of the Free State Province, Commissar Mandisa Makesini will address the Prayer meeting at 11H30 and the address will be open to all members of the community and the media. The EFF however condemns the desperation of ANC run municipalities in the Free State which lead them to refuse with public venues for public events. Refusing churches from holding prayer meeting simply because the EFF will be in majority is a sign of desperation and altogether unacceptable. The EFF in the Free State will not degenerate to the level of Ace Magashule run Municipalities and occupy venues without approval, but we are issuing the last warning to the Free State Government that we will not tolerate corrupt governments that refuse us public venues. These are public venues which should be used by all the people of South Africa. The Municipality should begin to respect the Provincial Government under the EFF because we are the immediate future government in the Free State. All Fighters, Organisers, Volunteers, and people of Phuthadithjaba and the Free State are cordially invited to the Prayer Meeting which will happen at Robala Lodge from 10H00. The Premier of the Free State Mandisa Makesini will address the gathering alongside Church leaders.
