The party, headed by Julius Malema, was founded on July 26, 2013 in Soweto, and is the third largest in the National Assembly. Giving the keynote address at the anniversary celebration, EFF MP Andile Mngxitama said it is the partys radical policies that have led to it enjoying the type of support that it does, in the few months of its existence. “The strength of the EFF is [in] the message that it carries through. I think it has got some of the most articulate leaders, and Julius Malema is one of those when it comes to the ability to embody and translate the message of the margins or those excluded,” says Mngxitama.
