EG just published a new interview with French geopolitical scholar Pierre Verluise. He discusses his book "Geopolitics of the EU Borders – Enlargement, how far?" (actual title "Géopolitique des frontières européennes. Elargir jusqu’où?"): "How does the EU organize its relations with the South? The EU willingly presents itself as the world’s largest donor of official development aid, with 60% of the global total. However, the EU does not draw any political benefit from it that is proportional to its efforts. The book explains why."
