EHLERS DANLOS SYNDROME: WE SAY NO TO STOPPING THE DIAGNOSIS We are facing a worsening of public health situation already very difficult, because of the ignorance of Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS). Law No. 2002-303 of 4 March 2002 states that the first right of the patient is able to access the care their condition requires . But what if the specialist consultation is deleted ? Indeed, we have learned with amazement that the Hotel Dieu Hospital in Paris, does not renew vacations Professor Emeritus Claude Hamonet ( claude.hamonet.free.fr/ ) from 1 September 2013. This health facility is restructuring to become a diagnostic center , the special consultation SED is therefore its full place . Services are transferred without consultation Cochin Hospital for SED. Removing this consultation represents a total freedom from the law in 2004 highlighting the access to care and endangering patients unable to heal. In addition, this inexplicable decision ignores six months of scheduled appointments (Feb 2014 to 193 patients), 200 patients waiting for appointments , the 1,500 existing patients requiring medical attention and emergencies that happen every day! These patients come from throughout the French territory (Corsica and DOM TOM included), but also from abroad: Belgium, Switzerland, Italy, Canada, USA, Australia, United Arab Emirates, Morocco, Algeria. The goal for the Medical and Social Council of the Association ASED (< ased.fr/ >) is postponing the deadline for at least one year with reinforcement of the medical team to ensure the appointment scheduled and those waiting , continue the training of doctors (still insufficient to date) for optimized relay it to the Hotel Dieu Hospital or another institution of the AP-HP.
