EID MUBARAK I will tell you more about the Prophet of Allah Hazrat Ibrahim (PBUH) and why qurbani and his construction of Kaaba links are remembered and celebrated by Muslims all over the world on this Eid al-Adha Born in 1948 Anno Mundi (early second millennium BCE) in Ur, Iraq - died in 2123 AM Hebron, West Bank Allah granted Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH) wisdom in his childhood, when he became older he decided to teach his community a lesson about their worshipping idols and whilst people were away Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH) broke all their idols, except the largest, which he kept intact. On return they saw the wreckage and questioned him, whether he had anything to do with the broken idols. Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH) told people to ask the largest of the idols. People admitted that the idols were incapable of anything but ignored Prophet Ibrahims (PBUH) and instead retaliated by throwing him into a fire and exclaiming, Protect your Allah. Although the nature of fire was one of intense heat, Allah commanded the flame to be cool, which resulted in Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH) remaining unhurt. Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH) was instrumental in cleansing of idolatry at the time. He cleared paganism out from both Arabia and Canaan. Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH) was a kind and compassionate man and became the leader of the righteous in his time and a perfect model for mankind. When Prophet Ibrahims (PBUH) son Ismail (PBUH) was of a young age, Allah gave him a command to sacrifice his son. This was a tremendous trial for the patriarch as his only son was being asked to be offered to Allah. When Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH) told his son about his revelation in dreams, his son readily accepted his fathers order. Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH) was then rewarded with a momentous sacrifice, which is usually believed to have been a ram, goat or sheep. The Muslim holy day festival Eid al-Adha is celebrated to remember the event. The Kaaba remains an Islam’s most significant mosque and it was constructed by Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH) and Ismail (PBUH). Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH) was given the title Khalil-Allah, which means Friend of Allah and he symbolised the highest moral values essential to any person. On the command of Allah Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH) left his wife Hajra along with infant son Ismail (PBUH) away from the populated area of the Mecca. Ismail (PBUH) became thirsty and Hajra was desperately seeking water for her son, but she could not find any and ran seven times back and forth in the scorching heat between the two hills of Safa and Marwah, looking for water. Getting thirstier by the second, Ismail (PBUH) scraped the land with his feet, where suddenly a water spring poured out. Hajra attempted to contain the water and she said Zam Zam, meaning stop. This symbolic gesture is enacted in the Hajj ceremony and pilgrims do that. Prophet Ibraham (PBUH) spent the last years of his life teaching his sons. Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH) said Praise be to Allah, Who has given me Ismail (PBUH) and Ishaq (PBUH) in old age; most surely my Lord is the Hearer of prayer.
