EK VILLAIN:Almost All critics have given the film a green flag and i was heavily promoting the movie but after watching the finished product im not entirely satisfied.Im obviously not going to overrate it because everyone else is saying its a great movie. Its hardly watchable once. Story of EK VILLAIN is entirely changed from I SAW THE DEVIL.Numerous sub plots are added to the movie like siddharths underworld connection, his childhood tragedy, the whole shradha thing, ritieshs family, his life, the completely meaningless police involvement.some of it are good and most of it are not. For some reasons everyone in the movie is sad.Sid,ritiesh, the doctor, ritieshs wife, almost everyone is sad.The atmosphere of the movie is very gloomy. The most dull part of the movie is sid-shradhas love story. Those scenes are damn boring and as they are split into parts of flashback those scenes regularly do the work of killing the momentum of the story. However Ritieshs family story is very interesting but it has got very less screen time.Everything that is happening in the movie is given a logic to it which doesnt always makes audience happy it sometimes make them tired in their seats like,oh god! i gotta tolerate this tooToo many social messages. Tushar hiranandani(writer)who have previously written Main tera hero, grand masti,ABCD,etc is not very skilled at writing. It would have been much better if this movie was a scene to scene copy of ISTD because ek villain is highly watered down not only with PG TV violence but with these stupid side tracks.Tushar took a watertight script and while adapting it for hindi movie he left several loop holes in the story and thats unique. It was a ready made korean dish but he added too much indian spices into it.The only good thing he did was ritieshs character. The logic he have behind his actions that was awesome, specially the purpose that ritiesh comes with in climax. It provided a certain depth to ritieshs character.Dialogues of milap zaveri also arent very effective.Except for a few dialogues here and there and ritieshs dialogues in climax there isnt much to look forward. Performances.Shradhas kind of ok.Her character was anyways boring.Audience should have cared for her so that when she dies and sid seeks revenge fans would look forward to it but it doesnt happen. Her death look very casual and on top of that siddharth couldnt capitalize on it.He couldnt play a gangster or a villain as they marketed him as.He looked too clean and sophisticated. He seriously lacks in the acting department and is fit for dharmas richie rich movies only.Real acting is not his thing.Ritiesh.My god! an opportunity was presented to him and he made most of it.This is undoubtedly his best performance. The way he played a maniac who is a sissy in real life was awesome. His character was very believable and to me he wasnt the villain he was the hero.I always waited for his scenes in movie.I was emotionally attached to him and i wanted him to win this battle.I was supposed to feel like this for siddharth but as always he sucked.Ritiesh deshmukh is just off the charts in the movie.Kamaal khan was hilarious.I laughed really hard in his scenes and he should get more movies.Shaad randhava as the cbi guy was useless,so was remo fernandes as ceaser. Though the songs are good Music is the roadblock of the movie.Movie lacks intensity and probably soul too. This isnt one of mohit suris best.MURDER 2 was a better thriller than this(btw mahesh bhatt adapted the screenplay for murder 2)EK VILLAIN is a product of sub plots that we have seen in thousands of movies, bad adaption of screenplay, weak dialogues, bad editing and somewhat weak direction. Movie is good in parts. Its a movie that had the potential to be a **** movie which ended up being **1/2 due to careless handling. **1/2-WATCH IT FOR THE TERRIFIC PERFORMANCE OF RITIESH DESHMUKH,A VILLAIN WHO HAPPENS TO BE HERO OR EVEN SAVIOUR OF THE MOVIE.
