ELECTION DAY THOUGHTS People think that if they are not interested in politics, then that means that they have been clever enough to see through the propaganda that is trying to convince them that they have some stake in and control over what a bunch of hirelings do in parliament. That it matters and is not just a self-serving, corrupt power game, irrelevant to their lives. That anyone who does actually claim to care is naive, at the very least. I think though that the pathetic charade that is parliamentary politics serves to actively promote the very opposite. Our true masters (not politicians, think conspiracy theory nut if you wish, its all the same to me!) very fervently WANT us to think that it is indeed all bullshit. That we are too smart to think that it matters and too realistic to think that we could be empowered by it. The apathetic have been conned. They have traded their citizenship for a plasma screen tv. Politics is intertwined throughout their lives, their pasts, their futures and their cultures. You, for the sake of argument, may be very sure that you are not interested in politics...., but you can be equally sure, politics is extremely interested in you.
