ELECTORAL ILLUSION The acclaimed, perceived or implied Northern political class hegemony is a ruse and a farce when you consider the realms of our polka dot democracy Polka dot, in the sense that, it is a democracy of going around in black circles against a whitish backdrop of military rule In our 54 years of post-independence life, we have had 2 Northerners as presidents, a President from the West and the current administration headed by a South-Southern minority offshoot In all of those 54 years, we are talking about 7 years to the North, 8 years to the West and an on-going 4 plus years to the South-South This therefore brings me to the claim of a Northern political hegemony... ...is it really a political hegemony, or a feudal apparatus of military coup d etats and counter coup detats? By virtue of declarations and insinuations alike of being born to rule and possessing some air of rulership in many quarters, largely Northern... ...is it not plausible or likely, that we have mistaken democracy for military rule A mistake that is possible given the frequency of intermittent military rule in our past On record, in our lifetime as a proper republic...the arithmetic of our history of civilian goverment till date does not bestow on any section of the Nigerian society any such hegemonic edge as advertised by many who boast about a virtual linkage of their umbilical cords to some psychopathic seat of power This leads me further to pathways of population distribution and the claims and counter-claims of census fraud... ...while there is the need to conduct a CENSUS of truth and reality, there is a greater need to build a CONSENSUS of ideas, vision, purpose and affirmative action The thinking that the person of General Mohammadu Buhari for example, has a sizable Northern followership, yet would win a national election when he teams up with collaborators in the West on the backdrop of a seeming all-comers affairs voting pattern of a largely densely populated North is a debunkable myth It would have been alright as a myth. But being debunkable, altogether undresses the loose-fitting ensemble cladding the myth If there would be a serious opposition party to this present assembly of mayhem, assembly of mayhem in that this present assembly as hard as it tries, somehow manages to light a candle in a swamp of gasoline That so-called, serious opposition outfit, would at least ensure that it enters the intensive care unit of their lives, while their life-support machine is fitted, plugged and working Of what benefit is an intensive care unit whose life support apparatus is unplugged? By gearing up to choose Buhari or stick to a Northern persona, this opposition is repeating history... ...a history of near-misses, of regrets, of vengeful loss and retaliations ...a history of mediocrity, simplicity and utter foolishness I would have liked to mention my idea of persons to fill the president and vice-president slots for this opposition outfit...but it wont matter much It wont matter much because it would cause an hysterical laughter...similar to the atmosphere when David volunteered to take out Goliath But the Davids in this opposition outfit are faced with two Goliaths... ...one in their own camp ...another on the field Aso Rock is the field #Fastforward to 2019 #Caseclosed
