ELLIE GOULDING GIVES A VOICE TO SYRIA’S CHILDREN AS SAVE THE CHILDREN LAUNCH POWERFUL NEW FILM As the world watches in horror as the crisis in Syria unfolds, Save the Children is launching a powerful new film to raise awareness and much needed funds for vulnerable children whose lives have been torn apart by the ongoing conflict. Brit Award winner, singer songwriter Ellie Goulding is lending her support to the campaign by donating her song ‘I Know You Care’ as the soundtrack to the video. Set against heart-wrenching imagery of innocent child victims caught up in the crisis, the video has been curated by Beeban Kidron, critically acclaimed Director of ‘Bridget Jones, the Edge of Reason’, ‘Oranges are not the only Fruit’ and the upcoming film ‘In Real Life’. Save the Children is calling on the media and UK public to show their support by sharing the music video online which can be found at bit.ly/syriafilm and donating to the Syria appeal by downloading the track which will be available from iTunes, Amazon and all other major, online music retailers from Thursday 19th September. All money raised from the online sales will be donated to Save the Children’s Syria Appeal. Justin Forsyth, Save the Children’s CEO who has recently returned from the Syrian border says; “Children in Syria are suffering unimaginable horror and witnessing atrocities no one should ever see. They speak of snipers on the roof tops of their homes, tanks rolling down streets where they once played and sleeping in the fields to avoid nightly shelling. “They are desperate, frightened and all too often alone.” Ellis Goulding says: "This is a such a vital cause and I would do anything I can to help. Please support by visiting bit.ly/syriafilm " The civil war in Syria is now in its third year. Nearly 7,000 children have died during the conflict, more than 2 million children within Syria have been forced to leave their homes and another million children have fled the country altogether. Many are traumatised, hungry, in urgent need of shelter and protection. Children are, once again, the innocent victims of war. Save the Children is working inside Syria and neighbouring countries to ensure that Syria’s children get the food, medicines and protection they need. But as the conflict continues to devastate the lives of millions of Syria’s children, we urgently need to increase awareness of what is happening in Syria and raise more funds to support the Syria appeal.
