EM Residents, NOAA has issued a red flag warning for the EM from 12 noon until 8 pm for Friday, June 27. The complete forecast is linked here: forecast.weather.gov/wwamap/wwatxtget.php?cwa=abq&wwa=red+flag+warning. We recommend that you visit the NOAA web site linked below for the latest information about weather conditions affecting wildfire danger. Weather is a significant factor in wild fire. Visit the NOAA web site daily - linked here: weather.gov/. Red flag conditions are temporary weather conditions that are characterized by above average temperatures, high winds, low relative humidities, drought fuel conditions and high Haines levels (a measure of atmospheric instability). NOAA scientists do not issue these warnings arbitrarily, and consider these conditions major contributors to wildfire starts and wildfire growth. EMIFPA recommends the following on red flag days: no campfires, no smoking outside and no welding. Please advise your neighbors of these concepts as well. EMIFPA encourages residents to have a plan, practice your plan frequently and above all stay aware and prepared. Wildfire prevention is a team effort, and we want you to do your part. Finally, as always, report it, dont ignore it.
