EMERGENCY ALERT EMERGENCY ALERT EMERGENCY ALERT Your presence is needed to say NO on Dallas County video visitation! The Dallas County Commissioners Court is set to vote on a contract to REPLACE Inmate in-person family visitations with a Phone/Video Visitation high-commission fee service administrated by an outside contractor. The proposed vendor contract includes an estimated $3M commission to be paid to the county. These services unfairly target the poor with predatory lending practices to pay sky high fees. Videos will be recorded and stored for a minimum of 30 days, eliminating privacy and attorney-client privilege and opening the possibility of access by prosecutors. Use of in-home video cameras also holds the potential for illegal surveillance of prisoners’ families. The Campaign for Prison Phone Justice needs people to show up at Commissioners Court on Tuesday, 9/9 at 9 am, to speak directly to the commissioners on the impact this issue will have on families. You must sign up in advance by calling the Court at 214-653-7165 prior to 4pm Monday, 9/8. For questions and assistance call Josh Gravens at 469-207-5063 or contact him at [email protected].
