EMERGENCY ANNOUNCEMENT: FOOD AND WATER CRISIS IN BOHOL, PHILIPPINES: Thousands of Boholanos have not been reached by rescue teams, and relief goods have not been delivered to their barangays. My cousin, for example, texted me last night that in Catagbacan Norte, Loon, people have not received any relief goods since Tuesday. An officemate also texted me that in San Isidro town, many barangays in this town have not received any relief goods. Scores of roads and bridges are impassable. Thousands are hungry and thirsty. After the earthquake, water supply in hundreds of barangays has stopped. Meanwhile, many are still buried alive in their houses, and their dead bodies have not been recovered. As of Oct. 18, 2013, total number of fatalities is 160. Please send a TEXT BLAST to all your friends/contacts in your phonebook. You can re-post this emergency announcement on your timeline or on your friends timeline or on a group. Please bring WATER (new or on recycled bottles) and non-perishable FOODS (noodles, canned goods, biscuits, etc) to the Bohol Cultural Center (located near BISU main campus) right now where our volunteers are re-packing donated relief goods. One of the hardest-hit towns, Loon, which has a population of more than 40,000 is still isolated from the rest of Bohol. Thousands of Boholanos in Maribojoc, Loon, San Isidro, Antequera, Cortes, Sagbayan, Clarin, Tubigon, etc are facing food and water crisis. Please go to the Bohol Cultural Center now and bring whatever foods you can share to our suffering people. Please call and text your friends wherever they are. Even a pack of biscuits can already alleviate our peoples hunger. You can also volunteer to re-pack relief goods at the Bohol Cultural Center. Advisory from the Provincial Government of Bohol: If you are living abroad, you can send cash to a trusted family member or friend, and request him/her to buy food and water, and bring these to the Bohol Cultural Center in Tagbilaran City where there is a 24-hour relief operation. Cebu Pacific, PAL, Air Asia, Zest Air offer free shipment of your donated goods. Lite Shipping and Trans-Asia also offers free shipment. Friends, clicking like on FB does not help. Instead, click SHARE so that crucial information about Bohol would be spread worldwide. Again, clicking LIKE does not help disseminate information. Click SHARE instead, please. Thank you.
