EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES Particip GmbH – Your Partner in Change, is an independent, internationally-recognised German consulting firm founded in 1989 and offering the expertise and the know-how gained in over thousand assignments worldwide. The firm is embarking on a 2-year tourism related project, More Income and Employment in Rural Areas along selected Value Chains (MIERA) in Malawi which is funded by the GIZ. Currently, we have vacant positions that need to be urgently filled and are as follows: 1. A National long-term Expert for Project Coordination and Monitoring & Evaluation. Based in the MIERA office in Lilongwe. The national long-term expert will be responsible for the coordination and implementation of the assignment on a day to day basis and will be responsible for the M&E system of the project. The expected profile and tasks are as follows: Profile of the national long-term Project Coordinator: Relevant academic degree, preferably in business or economics. At least 10 years of relevant work experience, preferably in international organizations. At least 5 years of experience the tourism sector. Profound knowledge of the tourism sector in Malawi. Comprehensive experience in developing and managing a results-based monitoring and evaluation system according to the project indicators. Committed to achieving results, and capacity to work in a team and to keep the project aligned with the entire programme. Fluency in English including good writing skills is a must. Keys tasks of the national long-term expert include: Coordinate the local team of the contractor in close coordination with the MIERA project director. Advice in key areas of tourism development, as mentioned above. Responsibility to set-up and manage the results based monitoring system of the project in close coordination with the MIERA project team. Support capacity development of local stakeholders through trainings, workshops, process facilitations and other means according to their needs. Identify international and national short-term experts according to stakeholders needs. Support financial planning and monitoring. Make sure that project administration conforms with GIZ standards. Contribute and coordinate the inputs to reports as described under 2.I. Support the MIERA project director in updating and/or adapting the project design on the basis of the five success factors of Capacity WORKS. Identify the need for short-term assignments within the available budget, planning and steering the assignments, and supporting the local and international short-term experts. Coordinate the organisation/running of project activities. Support the MIERA project director and the project team in preparing and adapting the plan of operations. Monitor and document work progress and support the development and constant updating of operational plans for the project. 1. A National long-term Expert for Institutional Dialogue and Collaboration with the private sector. Based in the MIERA office in Lilongwe Profile of the national long-term Project Coordinator: Relevant academic degree, preferably in business or economics. At least 10 years of relevant work experience, with at least 5 years in the tourisms sector. Substantive relevant private sector experience. Profound knowledge of the tourism sector in Malawi. Committed to achieving results, and capacity to work in a team and to keep the project aligned with the entire programme. Excellent networking abilities and good contacts in the tourism industry. Fluency in English. Keys tasks of the national long-term expert include: Facilitate the sector dialogue in coordination with key private sector players Support capacity development of local stakeholders through trainings, workshops, process facilitations and other means according to their needs. Identify international and national short-term experts according to stakeholders needs. Contribute and coordinate the inputs to reports as described under 2.I.
