The members in the church in Thessalonica made it a model for the other churches in the region. Thessalonica was not only the largest city in Macedonia and the capital in the province but also the center of the evangelistic activity in the region. The extraordinary perseverance of the members of that church was held up as exemplary (illustrating) or typical of what a church should do. 1 Thess. 1:7 So that you were examples to all believe in Macedonia and Achaia. 1 Cor. 10:6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. 2 Thess. 3:9 Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an example unto you to follow us. 1 Pet. 5:3 Neither as being lords over Gods heritage, but being examples to the flock. We too must be an influence in the community as in the church. In holiness, in perfection, In mercy, in not discriminating, in service, in meekness, in self renunciation, in enduring persecution, in forgiving, in obedience, in steadfastness, in perseverance. There is nothing else that be more influential than this, in fact this is SUPERNATURAL!!! AHP!
