ENCOMMIUMS GALORE AS IGBIDE COMMUNITY ENDORSES RT HON LEO OGOR FOR ANOTHER TERM *Reaffirm faith in Rt Hon Leo Ogor *Hon Leo Ogor is the only Isoko political officer that is responsive to public opinion. Moreover, It will be dangerous and counterproductive for Isoko to lose the Deputy Majority Leader position – Chief (Barr) Mike Edegware. Igbide community in Isoko south Local Government Area of Delta state, weekend, joined the growing list of communities that has endorsed Rt Hon Leo Ogor for another term as Isoko representative at the Federal House of Representatives. The community unanimous decision was made known by Chief Barr Mike Edegware at Igbide during the week. In a reconciliation meeting between Igbide community and Rt Hon Leo Ogor held at residence of Chief Barr Mike Edegware, Chief Edegware at the end of the meeting promised Rt Hon Leo Ogor of Igbide total support come 2015. In his speech, Rt Hon Leo Ogor apologized to Igbide community for any lapses in term of infrastructural development in Igbide land while promising to carry Igbide community along in the scheme of things. “I want to thank Igbide community especially all those who suspended all other activities to grace this august meeting. A lot might have gone wrong in the party. Toes might have been stepped on, but we cannot run away from Isoko development. I want to apologize to Igbide community for any shortcomings on my own part.” He stated Ogor also used the opportunity to seek for forgiveness amongst constituents especially party members to ensure unity and together come 2015 elections while seeking for support of Igbide community in next year House of Reps election ”I also enjoin everybody to forgive and forget the past as we work towards the progress of Isoko land and the collective interest of our great party. There are always rooms for amendment. I also want to use this opportunity to solicit your support for my re-election bid” While responding, Chief Godspower Okporor, the Oletu-Ekpa of Igbide clan, lamented the neglect of Igbide community by politicians after each successive elections. The Oletu-Ekpa also reminded Rt Hon Leo Ogor of his promise to Igbide community and the uttermost faith they still have in his representation due to his numerous developmental projects cited across Isoko land stressing that Igbide community will no longer tolerate betrayal by politicians as 2015 draw closer. “First of all I want to thank you for this meeting. Thank you for coming to meet us. We are delighted to host and welcome you to Igbide. It’s on records that Igbide community has being shortchanged over the years in term of dividends of democracy, infrastructural development and human-capital development.” He stated Continuing, he thanked Hon Leo Ogor for finding it worthy to make amend with Igbide people. He re-assured Hon Leo Ogor of the readiness of Igbide to work toward his emergence/re-election come 2015 due to his commitment to Isoko development especially in the area of infrastructural development and human capital development. “That you recognized your shortcomings and choose to visit Igbide community shows your good disposition and kind heartedness which is rare amongst political leaders. We are ready to work with you again but we must not be neglected this time around in the scheme of things” The Oletu-Ekpa also expressed his appreciation to the Deputy Majority Leader for singlehandedly embarking on the renovation of Eru primary school, Igbide which he described as a sign of good thing to come. “I want to eulogize you for your singular effort in the ongoing renovation of Eru primary school, Igbide. Your singular action show signs of good things to come unlike others who has forgotten us” Also speaking, Chief Samuel Ughojor Also thank God for his visit stressing that it’s commendable for one to acknowledge his error, seek for forgiveness and make appropriate amendment. “That you come back to us show that you have a good heart because the Devil you know is better than the angel you don’t know.” Chief William Ikolomi while speaking summarily agreed with other speakers stating that Igbide community is not ready to be taken for granted again as even as they are willing to work for the People’s Democratic Party, PDP and the re-election of Rt Hon Leo Ogor. In his welcome address, Chief Mike Edegware commended Rt Hon Leo Ogor for finding it worthy to make amend with Igbide community, a move which is rare amongst politicians. Edegware also enjoined all Igbide sons and Daughters to eschew all form of bitterness and grudges and work toward the re-emergence of Rt Hon Leo Ogor and ensure the victory of PDP in Igbide in all wards “First of all, I must thank Rt Hon Leo Ogor for this visit. Rt Hon Leo Ogor is good man. I therefore plead with all Igbide community to forget the past and work for the victory of PDP and Rt Hon Leo Ogor come 2015.” Edegware also reminded Rt Hon Leo Ogor of Igbide past singular decision to work for opposition party in the last election due to betrayal by politicians. “We decided to work for opposition party during last elections because we have been shortchanged over the years. It’s our only way of expressing our grievances to the ruling Party, The People’s Democratic Party, for the treatment being meted to Igbide and the manner we were been treated after elections though we are still members of the ruling party. We thank you for your presence. We thank you for your appeal. Whoever still holds any grudges against you is on his own. Igbide has embraced you” Chief Edegware also assured Ogor of the willingness of Igbide people to partner with him come 2015 describing him as a good man “We want to assure you that we are ready to work for the victory of our party, PDP. We are ready to work for your victory at the poll. We are ready to work for the goodness of Isoko land.” He also noted that the office of the Deputy Majority Leader of the House of Representatives is a very important and sensitive position which Isoko cannot afford to lose in order to remain relevant at the federal level and in the scheme of things “You will have to go back because we cannot afford to lose the seat of the Deputy Majority Leader. It will be counterproductive for Isoko to lose the seat. I also want to commend you for your quick response to public opinion. You are the only Isoko politician that has being responding to public opinion and it’s one of the rare trait of a good leader and one who have the interest of the people at heart. Comes 2015, Igbide is ready to work for your re-emergence” he said Present at the meeting were chief Godspower Okporor, Chief Barr Mike Edegware, Chief Lucky Ogba, Chief Samuel Ughojor, Chief William Ikolomi, Chief Ese Okpu, Barr. Afor Irogbo, Mr Philips Osima, Chief Hon Emamusi Oboidhe, Mr Nelson Egware, Hon Ovie Oghoore and host of others It could also be noted that against the backdrop of insignificant pockets of opposition against the re-election bid of Hon Leo Ogor, more endorsements has continue to trail his 2015 re-election bid. It could be recalled that few months, a delegation of Okpe-Isoko women association led by the chairperson of Okpe-Isoko women association, Mrs. Gladys Popoola Cooper Ashafa also endorsed Rt Hon Leo Ogor and pledged to support his re-election bid into the House of Representatives as his achievements and accomplishment over the years in the area of employment, human capital development and infrastructural development is unrivaled, superlative and unequaled. While drumming support for Hon Leo Ogor, the women also declared Okpe-Isoko a no go area for opposition candidate haven pledged their support and votes toward the re-emergence of the Deputy Majority Leader as their representative come 2015 Also penultimate week, Uzere clan also promised to work toward the re-election bid of Hon Leo Ogor. Other communities that has also pledged support for Hon. Leo Ogor re-election bid are Ovrode, Aradhe, Emede, Irri, Ozoro, Idheze, Oyede, Ellu, Owhelogbo, Oto-Igho, Okpe-Isoko, Enwhe, Oleh, Emevor, Itibio-oge, Ofagbe, Igbide, Erowha, Olomoro, Aviara and host of other communities Isoko South political stakeholders, few month ago, under the aegis of Isoko South Elders’ forum in an enlarged meeting held at the residence of Chief D.E.A Etaluku at Igbide, which has in attendance Hon Pius Omamowho from Umeh, Chief D.E.A Etaluku from Igbide, Chief B.G.O Ovririe, Chief Mike Usige, Prof (Chief) E.A Ekoko from Uzere, Hon (Rev) Mrs Ilolo, Chief E.D Ekee and other prominent chiefs also unanimously endorsed Rt Hon Ogor for re-election with a promise to mobilize Isoko south votes for him while advising other aspirants with interest in the House of Reps position to save their energy for a futures election as their efforts and energy will be a mere exercise in futility as the party has resolved to ensure his success at the poll. Ogor has over the years endeared himself to the people through massive employment, empowerment of his constituents and numerous projects influenced and cited across communities in Isoko land notably the Isoko ring road project worth N2.1billion which surpasses the allowable project cost of N30million each lawmaker is entitled to as constituency project in his domain. As part of his philanthropic gesture, Rt Hon. Ogor singlehandedly embarked on the construction and furnishing of two storey building ICT Centre complex, construction of 1.5km internal road network and donation of 110 solar powered street lights all at Delta state polytechnic, Ozoro, Delta state. Recently, ‘Oyibo Isoko’ as he is fondly called, in response to the yearnings of his constituents, also singlehandedly embarks on the construction of 18 blocks of classroom and laboratory at Alaka secondary school, Ozoro which is presently under construction and roofing of 8 block of classroom at Eru primary school, Igbide which is currently in progress . In view of his developmental efforts and human-capital development which has clearly distinguished him amongst his peers, Rt Hon Leo Okuweh Ogor was recently conferred with Honorary fellow by Delta state polytechnic, Ozoro on its first combined convocation ceremony which had in attendance Delta state governor, Dr Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, Members of Delta state executive council and other eminent personalities from within and outside the state
