ENCOURAGEMENT FOR TODAY HABITS: A habit is a routine way of behavior that is repeated regularly and tends to occur unconsciously. In the American Journal of Psychology (1903) it is defined in this way: A habit, from the standpoint of psychology, is a more or less fixed way of thinking, willing, or feeling acquired through previous repetition of a mental experience. Habitual behavior often goes unnoticed in persons exhibiting it, because a person does not need to engage in self-analysis when undertaking routine tasks. Habits are sometimes compulsory. The process by which new behaviours become automatic is habit formation. Old habits are hard to break and new habits are hard to form because the behavioural patterns we repeat are imprinted in our neural pathways, but it is possible to form new habits through repetition. My question now for us to ponder upon today is this. What are my habits as regards food intake and exercising. Many of us have unhealthy eating habits, my good self included. Lol. A lot of us have made it a habit not to do any form of physical exercises whatsoever. I once heard that to develope or form a new habit you have to do the same thing consistently for 26 days and then it becomes natural for you to do because it has now become a habit. When I started my lemon and ginger regime I was told that it was to be done for 30 in order to achieve positive results. A lot of us started eagerly BUT what I noticed especially from some who complained about not seeing any positive results was a lack of consistency during that 30 days period. 1 In order to achieve good success in this group each and every one of us must purpose and determine in our hearts that we can succeed at what we have purposed to do. 2 We must understand that we are going to have to break some old habits and develope some new habits. 3 We must realise that the ultimate decision to succeed or fail in our mission lies in our hands. We must begin to identify our bad habits and begin to take note of the good habits we wish to inculcate and begin to practice them consistently over a fixed period of time. 4 We should take full advantage of information provided on this group page to set personal goals and targets for ourselves and take full advantage of the support group. There is a lot of power in a group of persons working together towards a common purpose.
