ENGLISH 101 GRAMMAR: DOUBLE NEGATIVES A. NOT and NEVER are - TopicsExpress

ENGLISH 101 GRAMMAR: DOUBLE NEGATIVES A. NOT and NEVER are negative adverbs which shouldnt be joined with other negative adverbs like BARELY, HARDLY, RARELY, SCARCELY or SELDOM. INCORRECT: I cant barely hear you. (Kakaawa naman, hirap na hirap eh!) CORRECT: I can barely hear you. (Ayan! Di ka lang nya marinig.) B. Dont use indefinite pronouns NEITHER, NOBODY and NONE with other negative words. If there is a negative adverb like NO or NOT in the sentence, use ANY, ANYBODY or ANYONE as subject or object. INCORRECT: I dont want nobody else but you. (Sweet lang pero wrong grammar.) CORRECT: I dont want anybody else. (Yiiii!) *Disclaimer: This topic is not intended for nega people. Yung mga yun, di lang double negatives, multiple negatives sila. Hehehe. * Sorry guys. I cant think of any topic to post. My brain cells are not working. #LagnatModeIsOnAgain :(
