ENGR. AYO AKINLOSOTU, FORMER NATIONAL PRESIDENT OF SCM IS A YEAR - TopicsExpress

ENGR. AYO AKINLOSOTU, FORMER NATIONAL PRESIDENT OF SCM IS A YEAR OLDER TODAY. We thank God for the life of daddy Akinlosotu who became a grand father SCM national president recently. He became the national president for the first time in 2006 in Port Harcourt. Got re-elected at Ibadan in 2008 and in 2010 during our 70th year anniversary as a national Movement handed over to Bro. Cyprian Ojum who on Sunday, August 3, 2014 officially handed over to Rev. Eric Ighalo, current national president. And so goes the baton of sacrifice and service in SCM Nigeria. We thank God for elders like daddy Akinlosotu. They deserve to be celebrated now in their life times. SCM from its birth in 1940 in Nigeria has given birth also to thousands upon thousands of sons and daughters scattered all over the world. But only few have chosen to pay the price to serve God in SCM. Daddy Akinlosotu who is one among this faithful few has served from 1976 when he entered SCM at the University of Ife (now OAU) till now. He comes around as one of those SCM Calebs ever routing for the war of the mountains. In 1981 he served also as a corper TS in the old Cross River state that comprised of current Cross River and Akwa Ibom states. The likes of own dear Bishop Emma Isong were among his students at UNICAL then. He was rising up a prominent leader of the Deeper Life Bible church in the 80s, but at the junction of choice, he chose SCM. If he had forsaken SCM as many did, he would have by now risen up to the position of a national overseer - a potential candidate for the GS position in the Deeper Life Church. It is always costly to be an SCMer and to serve as an SCMer. We all among this few bear this cost. What would have been of much gain to us, we counted as loss for Christ in SCM. Before he became the national president in 2006, I had worked with him at the Kaduna SCM for ten years (1996-2006). He is indeed a leader of leaders. I can unequivocally say this having worked closely with him these number of years up till now. Humble with out reservation like all men and women that had close contact with Pastor W.F Kumuyi. I met him for the very first time in 1994 at our SCM national conference at a place near Kuru in Jos. At the national conference where late Mr Israel Mariogaie (national president 1992-1994) lost to Hon. G.C. Ogenyi. Daddy Israel died in 1995. Before this time in 1994, each time I read through SCM literature materials, I will always read that Engr Ayo Akinlosotu was the sectoral president of Kaduna sector. I was looking forward to seeing a man swashbuckling through the hall of our meeting in Jos in that coldish April of 1994. Not so, I saw a brother with his bible standing all about to serve. He was never seen around the chief seats. I managed seeing him during a bible study session as somebody pointed to me that that is him. His humility I saw in Jos, I touched while we worked together in Kaduna. This humility showed up much when he became our national president. A big man in NNPC, but he was always contented with whatever he was offered during our several SCM conferences and meetings. I used to check him into his hotel rooms at the University Palace hotel in Benin during our NEC meetings. Those dingy rooms he accepted all for the sake of SCM. He never rejected those poor hotel rooms. And this is the same man that stays in five star hotels outside Nigeria when on official assignment. All in an effort to save money to plough into the SCM work. May SCM Nigeria never be in lack of exemplary Christian leaders like him. As he climbs up the ladder of age today, we appreciate Gods goodness over this His servants life. Daddy Akinlosotu is a gift not only to SCM Nigeria but to the Nigerian church at large. SCM joins other well wishers to pray that God will keep him for more glorious and prosperous years in His service. This is wishing the humble man of God, happy birthday. By SCM through yours sincerely, Harold ozioma Ikewueze, General Secretary, SCM, Nigeria.
