ENJOY CHICAGOLAND’S ONLY FLY-FISHING SHOW NOV. 9 AT MAYSLAKE PEABODY ESTATE The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County’s Mayslake Peabody Estate at 1717 W. 31st St. in Oak Brook is hosting the fourth annual “The Early Show,” Chicagoland’s only fly-fishing show, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 9. Guest speakers include Brad Bohen from Musky Country Outfitters, who will discuss the Wisconsin River and fishing for muskies on the fly; Steve Martinez from Indigo Guide Service, who will talk about Pere Marquette salmon, steelhead and trout; Craig Reindeau, an Atlanta fly designer and guide with Off the Deep Edge, and Art “Doc” Mazzier, who will discuss aquatic entomology. The show also features demonstrations from more than 25 of the area’s best fly tyers; free lessons from certified casting instructors; demonstrations on spey casting and matching the line to the rod; sales representatives from pro tyers, guides and area shops; and free youth fly-tying activities with materials and tools provided. Admission is $10 per person; kids 12 and under are free. Registration is not required. For more information call (630) 933-7248. This is the first time the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County is hosting this event, which is cosponsored by the Illinois Smallmouth Alliance and DuPage Rivers Fly Tyers. The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County owns and manages 25,000 acres of prairies, woodlands and wetlands. Each year its 60 forest preserves, 145 miles of trails, five education centers and scores of programs welcome over 4 million visitors.
