ENJOYING HARĀM IN THE DUNYĀ قال ابن القيم رحمه الله : إذا كان الله عز وجل قد عاقب لابس الحرير في الدنيا بحرمانه لبسه يوم القيامة ، وشارب الخمر في الدنيا بحرمانه إياها يوم القيامة ، فكذلك مَن تمتع بالصور المحرمة في الدنيا ، بل كل ما ناله العبد في الدنيا ، فإن توسع في حلاله ، ضيق من حظه يوم القيامة بقدر ما توسع فيه ، وإن ناله من حرامٍ فاته نظيرُه يوم القيامة روضة المحبين (ص/362) Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) said: So Allāh, may He be glorified and exalted, will punish the one who wears silk in this world by depriving him of wearing it on the Day of Resurrection, and He will punish the one who drinks wine in this world by depriving him of it on the Day of Resurrection. The same also applies to the one who enjoys Harām images in this world. Indeed, everything that a person enjoys in this world, if he goes to extremes in that, even if it is Halāl, his share of it will be reduced on the Day of Resurrection, to the extent that he indulged in it in this world. If he acquired it through Harām means, he will miss out on its counterpart on the Day of Resurrection. Rawdah al-Muhibbīn (Page 362) --- If we remember this each time we are tempted to indulge in forbidden matters, it will help us to abstain. Sacrifice in this temporary life to be recompensed with far better enjoyments in the next, permanent life, by the permission of Allāh.
