ENPO renews demand for Eastern Nagaland Correspondent LONGLENG, MAR 4: Reaffirming its earlier decision, Steering Committee of the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) at its consultative meeting Tuesday, declared to re-strengthen its resolve for a separate Frontier Nagaland state carved out of present Nagaland, as a reiteration that Eastern Nagaland people lived free as ‘Naga Hill Tuensang Division and un-administered area’ before the British rule of India. This was resolved at the Central Executive Council of ENPO at the consultative meeting for the Year 2014 was held at Lempong Convention hall Longleng District Headquarter today. Various leaders of ENPO who spoke at the consultative meeting, stated that even after Indian independence in 1947, the Eastern Naga people lived undisturbed by the outside world. They also cited various issues which people of Eastern Nagaland faced during the five decades since Nagaland became a state. Therefore, ENPO leaders urged the people gathered from six tribes to be sincere, humble, honest, co-operative and live in unity among themselves so as to achieve their long-cherished goal. The meeting was attended by hundreds of people from all the six tribes of Eastern Nagaland including Eastern Nagaland Legislature Union, (ENLU) Eastern Nagaland Gazette Officers Association (ENGOA) Eastern Nagaland Students’ Federation (ENSF) Eastern Nagaland Women Organization (ENWA), CEC Members, Steering committee Members, Advisors, Ex-Ministers, ex-MLAs and former Lok Sabha MP Asungba Sangtam. At Tuesday’s consultative meeting, ENPO also took serious note on the government of India’s decision to construct international border fence along the India-Myanmareastern . ENPO said that the central Government’s decision on constructing of International policy would be totally unacceptable and would oppose the policy of the Government whether state or Central. Citing the example of international border fencing being constructed in Chandel district and in Moreh sector under Manipur by the central government, ENPO said many innocent including other Indian citizens were placed under Myanmar territory that separated many family members between Myanmar and India. ENPO has cautioned that people of Eastern Nagaland would not allow the central government to construct the international border fencing within its jurisdiction. Hundreds of square kilometers of land belonging to eastern Nagaland people would be lost to Myanmar, it said. ENPO therefore, called upon all right thinking people to oppose the policy called for full cooperation from all sections of the people to protect their ancestral land. ENPO also vowed that, not an inch of land would be sold out to the foreigners nor would any be taken from them.
