EPRDF officials can not serve their people with the unqualified and less skilled experts and one kind show is what the ministry of Health was doing right now with WHO. As the Experts in Ministry of Health are EPRDF cadres, they are only recruited by EPRDF membership ID and now when the countdown to MDG 2015 reaches they now recognized they have ill skilled personalities in the ministry and they begg WHO to put 15 Qualified professionals to the Ministry premises starting August 19/2013. Details below 19 August 2013 THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH WELCOMES 15 WHO PROFESSIONAL STAFF TO PROVIDE DIRECT TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE (DTA) Addis Ababa, 19-08-2013: On 19 August 2013, the Minister of Health officially welcomed 15 WHO professional staff assigned by the WHO Country Office to the Ministry and its specialized agencies to strengthen WHO’s technical Assistance to the Government of Ethiopia. The welcome ceremony took place at the Ministry in the presence of the Minister of Health, H.E. Dr. Kesetebirhan Admasu, State Ministers, Dr. Kebede Worku and Dr. Amir Aman, as well as the Ministry of Health Management Team. Dr Pierre Mpele-Kilebou, WHO Representative to Ethiopia, led a WHO Ethiopia delegation comprising cluster coordinators to introduce the 15 WHO technical advisors. The DTA will sit in the Ministry or its specialized agencies: the HIV and AIDS Prevention and Control Office (HAPCO), the Ethiopian Health and Nutrition Institute (EHNRI) and the Food, Medicine and Health Care Administration Authority (FMHACA), to provide technical assistance to support the Min-istry of Health leadership and strengthen its institutional capacity to achieve its objectives of improv-ing the health of the Ethiopian people. At the event, Dr. Kesetebirhan thanked WHO for responding to his call for technical assistance saying, “This is a trail-blazer for WHO technical assistance in Africa. Such direct technical assistance will be critical in helping us achieve the MDGs, the mark for which is only two years away.” He also encour-aged the WHO technical team to integrate into the Ministry’s teams in order to provide an optimum level of support. Dr. Pierre M’pele underscored that the DTA will be a benchmark of a new era for WHO doing busi-ness differently to better support a member state. He also highlighted that the single objective of the DTA is to realize the required standard of technical assistance to the Ministry of Health, adding, “This direct technical assistance is a crucial component to achieving WHO’s mission of supporting the Min-istry of Health in its effort to improve the health of the Ethiopian people, and has the full approval of Dr. Luis G. Sambo, WHO Regional Director for Africa.” The DTA will support selected priority program areas focusing on Maternal and Child Health (MCH), Non-Communicable Diseases, Health Systems Strengthening support, Malaria, HIV, Tuberculosis (TB), Nutrition, Integrated Disease Surveillance and Routine Immunization activities.
