EPS: Stop Thief Campaign & Christmas Blitz Theft from autos is increasing around Edmonton. The Edmonton Police Service asks all drivers to remove ALL valuables from your vehicle whenever you park it. If anything is to remain in your vehicle, be sure to leave the items in your trunk and please lock your vehicle when you leave your vehicle. To spread the awareness, the EPS re-launched our Stop Thief campaign, reminding Edmontonians to lock their vehicle and hide their valuables. As the holiday shopping season continues and vehicles are filled with presents and high value items, criminals will be window shopping in parking lots looking for easy targets. Make sure you have a safe and happy holiday by following these simple tips in the video below. As another initiative to spread the theft from autos awareness, the Community Liaison Officers at Northeast Division did a ``Christmas Blitz’’ on December 04 from 1700- 2030 hrs. Joining EPS officers were student volunteers from Center High school, Killarney Community patrol and CPRN. The ``Christmas Blitz’’ involved the officers and volunteers putting pamphlets on cars parked in shopping malls that warn Christmas Shoppers of Theft from Autos. The volunteers had red Santa hats to identify them while they were out. Candy canes were given to all the shoppers which made some spirits merry and bright! Malls included in the Blitz were Northgate, North mount, Londonderry Mall, Clareview Village, and Eaux Claire Shopping Centre. EPS also attended the Belvedere LRT and the Clareview LRT and put the brochures on cars parked in those locations. EPS appreciates all the help from the volunteers to make this a success!
