EQUITIES Bearish trading continued in the new week as sell-offs in the Consumer Goods, Banking and Industrial sectors led the market to its sixth consecutive losing session. The NSE ASI fell by 0.88% to close at 30,492.30 points, while Market Capitalization lost N89.50 billion to close at N10.07trillion. The decline sent the Year-To-Date loss to 26.22%. Three out of the five Sectorial indices declined while two appreciated. The Consumer Goods index topped the losers chat with a 1.58% decline. The Banking and Industrial goods index followed suite with a 1.45% and 0.39% decline respectively. On the other hand, the Insurance index added 1.52%, while the Oil/Gas index added 1.22%. Market breadth remained very poor as 34 losers dwarfed the 15 gainers recorded. Volume traded declined by 4.60% to 372.64 million shares, worth N3.01billion and exchanged in 4,179 deals. The bears are expected to persist tomorrow as uncertainties remain.
