ER24 Blog: Child arms trapped in conveyor belt A three year old is in a serious condition after her arm got caught in a conveyor belt yesterday at a company in Montague Gardens in Cape Town. ER24 paramedics arrived on scene and found the young girl carried by a family friend. The mother was walking along side in visable shock. Paramedics assessed the patient and found that she had sustained severe injuries to her arm. Paramedics treated the patient for her injuries and thereafter transported her to Red Cross Hospital for further treatment. It is believed that the child wandered off while the mother was working and started playing with the running conveyor belt. Bystanders had stopped the machine and removed the childs arm before paramedics arrived. ~Shaz~
