ERNETORIAL…………….. (09-11-2001) aka (911). On 9-08 I flew into LaGuardia Airport, and just as every previous flight I would look out of the window, looking at Central Park, The Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, and the now infamous Twin Towers. Though I was born 50 miles north of there and grew up looking at most of those landmarks ( the” Twin Towers” came later). I always viewed them as Marvels and mainstays of the NYC landscape. The destruction of the “Twin Towers”, was an act “Terrorism”, with the loss of these magnificent Landmarks along with the killing of over 5000 innocent people being an inhumane act, beyond my comprehension. When I was awaked by me daughter Alana, on the morning of the 11th frantically asking me why people are bombing us, I turned on the T.V. to the horrific scene of the first tower burning. Suddenly, I saw the second plane hit. I was now witnessing the destruction of 2 of the buildings that had just marveled at 3 days prior. My thoughts ran rampant, wondering, what might follow? The images will be etched in my memory for life. My sorrow still lingers and my emotions still run high. I am still saddened by the memories of that day. My impulse is to politicize that moment in time, in order to get a lesson from it, or to see a bigger picture. However, with the memory of that day and the empathy for those lives lost, their families and the City of New York. I will simply, have a personal moment of silence for the fallen, their families and friends, while offering a salute to the brave responders……12 BELLS * * * * * * * * * * * *
