ESCAPED INMATE UPDATE: We have confirmed with Macon County Sheriff Robbie Holland that two inmates, Buster lee Biddix and Richard Frank Sandford Jr, scaled a fence and escaped from the Macon County Detention Center while working around the grounds. Biddix was serving a 120 day sentence for misdemeanor possession of stolen goods and driving while license revoked and Standford was serving a 6-8 month sentence for attempted Breaking and Entering. The search is currently begin conducted around the Smoky Mountain Host Visitor Center after officers spotted two individuals running across the highway dressed in all black. MAMA helicopter as well as the MCSO canine unit and Franklin Police Department are all assisting in the search.
