ESPN Getting Its Own Social Network-Style History From Director Derek Cianfrance Back in 2011, 20th Century Fox acquired James Andrew Miller and Tom Shales’ tome Those Guys Have All the Fun: Inside the World of ESPN, an oral history into the origins of the world’s greatest sports network. But they let the project go into turnaround a few months ago, unable to figure how what to do with the vast amount of material. Always looking for a hole in one, Focus Features has stepped up to the plate and taken a swing at the book, according to TheWrap, with a box office slam dunk their goal (mixed sports metaphors are fun, guys!). And they’ve hired The Place Beyond the Pines director Derek Cianfrance to helm it, which is one of the strangest choices I can imagine.
