ETHSHAM GHAFOOR: Anonymous letters sent to force and family Around 4.30am on 22 November 1994, the body of Ethsham Ghafoor was found inside his black and white Ford Sierra, in the Happy Days nursery car park, Lambley Lane, Gedling. The 26-year-old had been shot twice, once in the body and once in the head. He lived in Central Avenue, Sherwood Rise, and was married, with his wife four months pregnant when he was murdered. He never got to meet his daughter. We have today released extracts of anonymous mail sent to Shami’s family and the incident room, including handwritten letters and a card featuring Wallace and Gromit, after his murder. DCI Tony Heydon, who is leading the investigation into Shami’s murder, said: “The correspondence sent to Shami’s family may well be irrelevant to the inquiry, however we know that whoever sent it took time and effort to do so, and it would be more prudent to try to identify who sent it and why. “One of the letters used a stencil to write out the words – quite a time consuming task. The Wallace and Gromit card seems like quite a strange thing to send to the family of a murder victim. “The family have spent 20 years not knowing why Shami was targeted in such a vicious way. They need justice. If you have any information, please give us a call the incident room on 0115 844 6913 or independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
