ETTA UPDATE: Kyle, Cole, and I went to see Ben, Jen, and Etta last night. Etta is doing extremely well as she waits for her surgery tomorrow. Ben and Jen are also doing very well and are trusting the Lord with their little girl. It can be easy to see people handling a hard situation well and then decide theyre fine and neglect to pray or surround them with encouragement anyway. Im so glad that is not characteristic of our church. To that end, here are some ways you can be praying: *Pray for Etta and the doctors who are operating on her tiny body. Her surgery is scheduled for tomorrow morning, though its true that a surgery schedule sometimes changes. Well let you know tomorrow when she actually heads into surgery. While shes in there, they will put her on a bypass machine, stop her heart, make the repairs, start her heart again, and patch her up. These surgeons are AMAZING, and we know that the success rate is extraordinary. But its still a big deal. *Pray for Ben and Jen as they do their best to care for Etta in all the ways they are able... and entrust her to the Lord in every way, especially as there are so many things that are completely out of their control or ability to help at this point. *Pray for their family, friends, hospital employees, etc. who will hopefully catch a glimpse of what it means to trust the Lord and his sovereignty in a scary situation. Pray that people will see and understand the Gospel in a different way. *Pray that God will provide financially for Ben and Jen. They do not get paid for any time off that they take from their jobs. Bens boss has been very encouraging and has allowed him to do some work from the hospital, which is great. But this is an area of potential concern. I will try to work up a list of ways you can help as you feel led to do so. Chet, Keli, Brett Phalin, and I are planning to be there tomorrow, so we will be sure to send updates as we get them.
