EU extends military sanctions on Myanmar Jon Grevatt, Asia-Pacific Reporter, Bangkok - IHS Janes Defence Industry Military sanctions imposed on Myanmar by the European Union expired at the end of April but have been extended by another 12 months, EU documents show. EU Council Decision 2014/214/CFSP effectively extends the military export ban until 30 April 2015. However, the document states: [The decision] shall be kept under constant review. It shall be renewed, or amended as appropriate, if the council deems that its objectives have not been met. The decision was ratified in mid-April by the office of Catherine Ashton, high representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and vice-president of the European Commission.
