EUPOL’s Mission Support Function Over the last three days we have explained in a little more detail EUPOL’s three new Lines of Operation, which will drive our activities working at the strategic level, under the revised EUPOL mandate until the end of 2016. These were, LO1 - The Ministry of Interior Reform Component, LO2 - The ANP Professionalisation and Training Component and LO3 - The Rule of Law Component. Today we also wanted to mention some other key areas of work that also feature prominently within EUPOL’s business activity, one such area is that of Mission Support. EUPOL Mission Support provides human, material & financial support for implementing the mandate of the mission and is headed by Andrea Thies who oversees the sub-units of Technical services, CIS, Finance, Human Resources, Procurement and the Medical Unit. Nothing could be achieved by any mission staff members without this support function, which is the life-blood of the mission and ensures that all mission members are recruited, fed, accommodated, transported, paid and cared for if they are ill. Finally it is also important to know that Anti-Corruption and Gender and Human Rights are now mainstreamed across all three lines of operation to ensure that these critical areas are constantly considered when strategic advice is given to our Afghan counterparts.
