EVANGELISM, GANG Violence, and a lesson for boys. Today, after leaving from dropping my 3yr old boy off at school, a lady in the school said, please call the police or send someone to help a young man who is being attacked by a gang. The Lord moved my heart to go and see could I prevent a foolish crime and another tragic statistic from occurring. I arrived at the place, where 3 HS aged boys were attacking 1 young man. I and another man intervened. I shared that the police were alerted and on their way. The obscenities and threats were spoken as we broke up the fight, but none of the gang members were willing to fight TWO MEN (God gave these 3 gang members (1.) A lesson of wisdom from on high). I put the kid who was beaten in my car and asked him where I needed to take him. On the way, I asked him why he was in the community and why they were fighting him. He shared that he was home from college. Came to visit a girl and over the summer, he was in the neighborhood and he had to break up a fight between his friend and one of the gang members. God allowed me to share Immediately a second (2.) lesson of wisdom with that young man. I shared that college aged young men with a future in this life, do NOT associate in communities where evil boys are being led by the devil who will have a short life in this world and eternal damnation in the world to come. I inquired of his major and future plans. He said he wanted to be a construction engineer to build buildings. I shared the gospel of Jesus with him that ... God wants to give you an everlasting future that no gang member can touch. You see.....Jesus was a carpenter. He not only builds lives but He also saves lives. Like He did for yours today. Knowing that Jesus came to give everyone eternal life and saving them from the penalty that results from their sins, what will you do, young man, since Jesus has given you another day, another chance and another opportunity for salvation? Will you trust Jesus as Lord and Savior? Today (Friday) ...he affirmed that he would trust Jesus as Lord. He said that he has attended a church with his family for some time and this coming Sunday, he plans to get baptized and follow Gods way. I shared with him to tell his pastor and tell his family of the decision he has made to trust Jesus and the second chance God gave him today in saving him from the gang members. My six year old old son, who was in the car saw the entire event. He was so shocked, scared, but happy. There was a final (3rd) lesson even for my son. There was a Christian Vegie tale lesson even for him. I shared with Stephen that....In spite of sometimes unseen and imminent danger, 1.) listen for Gods leading. When God says do something...do it. Do it for HIM; 2.) We have been called to help others when they are in need. Even people that we sometimes, dont know; 3.) and never be afraid to do the right thing. My son, said...dad you are awesome. I told him....Jesus is awesome and I am only a follower of Jesus. So are you, son. Today was another good day for salvation. To God be the glory for things HE has done. Pastor Keith Gordon - Teacher / Evangelist.
