EVEN IN PAIN THERE IS JOY I was in Manila yesterday for work and it gave me the opportunity to see my Dad again who has been hospitalized for over 100 days. He has been wrestling with pneumonia and he experienced a mild stroke. There was a time when his heart was functioning only by 27% and his levels were down, but my old mans faith in God including our familys prayers, allowed him to recover slowly but surely --- by Gods grace. And just when we thought that the pneumonia had ceased, another bout recurred. Argh! Sometimes it can be so discouraging but we kept encouraging ourselves, held on to The Lord and still believed that Dad will recover. Many times Ive asked The Lord so innocently why things like this happen. Ive always believed that sickness is not from God, but a result of our lifestyle choices in a decaying world. Yet The Lord allows these challenges to happen for His purposes to be revealed and in the end, for His glory to be magnified. Sometimes He uses it to bring families together, to forgive and move forward as one... Sometimes He allows it for us to recognize His power, sovereignty, provision and trustworthiness... Sometimes it happens for us to realize how precious and valuable our lives are and that its meant to be lived purposefully... In spite of all of these things, I STILL TRUST GOD. I still believe that He knows whats best for Dad. I know that Christ is enough and only He is capable to heal, restore and turn a new page. Even if Dads health has been painful to see and the hospitalization bill has been astronomical, we see the grace of God everyday. We see it through diligent doctors and nurses, real friends and relatives who came, texted and encouraged us, provision from special people some of whom we havent met or know very well and a unique kind of love that bonded our family. If you have a parent in the hospital, honor them with your time, your resources and best efforts. Gods promise that your days may be long and all will go well with you will carry you through. When you know someone is in the hospital, go visit them. They are in pain and anxiety. Your presence makes them feel loved, remembered and valued. One day you might be hospitalized too and you wouldnt want an empty room... Above all, trust God for all your circumstances. Give your life to Him for He alone is all you have more than anyone else. Thank you to all those who are in this journey with us... - praying, encouraging, texting, blessing, sharing, and caring... We are forever grateful...
