EVEN WITHOUT ‘PORK,’ ILOILO CITY’S CONVENTION CENTER TO PUSH THROUGH REGIONAL Director Edilberto Tayao of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) assured Ilonggos that the public bidding and construction of the Iloilo Convention Center in Iloilo City will push through even without the pork barrel of Senate President Franklin Drilon. “There is already a budget for that. This is a line item. The P200 million will come from the Department of Tourism and the P380 million will come from other departments, possibly from the DPWH itself,” Tayao said over Reklamo Publiko program on Sunday. This statement is reliable and has an aura of truth. On the other hand, Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog told radio listeners recently that because the Supreme Court “TROed” the release of pork barrel, there is a big possibility that the construction of the convention center would not push through. “Daw mahibi ako.
