EVENING FACEBOOK WEATHER UPDATE: WINTER STORM WARNING: Berrien & Cass counties, expires Friday afternoon WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY: Everyone else in Michiana, expires Friday afternoon Tonight: Continued system snow. 1-3 south of US-30, 3-6 US-30 north. Winds will howl later tonight which will cause blowing & drifting of this light, fluffy snow. Temperatures will actually rise a bit overnight, so wind chill values, while still dangerous, wont be as brutal as last night. Well see wind chills near -15°, with temperatures in the upper single digits and lower teens. Winds will be SW to W from 15-25 mph... possibly gusting as high as 40mph at times. Friday: System snow moves out well before sunrise. Lake effect snow develops. With a mainly WNW wind, this will favor SW MI the most (hence the winter storm WARNING). 1-3 new snow likely, with isolated higher amounts under persistent snow bands. A few bands may make it as far south as US-20, but we are not expecting areas south of that to see any additional significant accumulation on Friday. High temperatures will be in the single digits to possibly lower teens, with wind chill values at or below zero. Fri PM/Sat: Lake snow ends. Partly cloudy and extremely cold. Low -7. Winds will still be breezy, so wind chill values will be around -25°... possibly as low as -30° for areas south of US-30. For Saturday, some sunshine is likely. Highs will be near 10. Another system moves in from the south, giving our southern counties some snow by Sat PM. Long Range: We warm a bit Sun/Mon with highs in the 20s. We continue to believe a colder blast is coming again next week. At this point, it doesnt look as severe as the past few days. Nonetheless, certainly a reminder that it is mid-January and we live in N IN/SW MI.
