EVERYTHING COUNTS It seems in the day and age we are living in most of us have very little to give to the Lord. The Apostle Paul said to give as the Lord has prospered you but it is hard to prosper financially today. But is it? If we count just the wages we are making and how much we are getting ahead the answer is Yes but that is not the only thing the Lord counts. With Him everything that we do for Him counts. Maybe all we can afford to do is to offer a neighbor a cup of cold water in Jesus’ name. We will in no wise lose our reward. Maybe all we can offer is a kind word or words of hope in this dismal world but that counts also in God’s cash register. Maybe we are poorer than old Job’s turkey and our circumstances look bleak but when God is on your side you are RICH! RICH INDEED! What can we give God? We can give Him our time and our talents. We all have some sort of talent. The other day my wife Penny made the comment that she had no talents. She said, “I can’t sing” and she began mentioning a lot of things others were talented to do in which she was not. I said, “Penny, the talents God has given you I don’t think you recognize. You have a way of cheering people up and when they want someone to pray for them they call on you to pray. And besides, you are the best cook in Fayette County. Old Brother Charlie Shaw loved the apple pies you would bake and give to him. With his wife being gone it was probably the only time he got a home-made apple pie with the crust baked from scratch. God has given you some wonderful talents that you freely give to others!” Tears came in her eyes and she replied, “I never thought of it that way.” IT ALL COUNTS IN GOD’S CASH REGISTER.
