EWG’s 2013 Farm Subsidy Database details $292.5 BILLION in subsidies paid from 1995 through 2012. The government continually incentivizes non-organic food’s growth and production. Three of the most heavily-subsidized crops (corn, soybean, and cotton) are also most often genetically-modified. The organic business, which has long complained that the Agriculture Department does not support it financially, will get $125 MILLION over the NEXT 5 YEARS for research and $50 million for conservation programs. Chump change? Better than nothing? Good news? Whats your take?
