EXCELLENT READ: On the surrender and adoption of senior pets. Timely, with November being Adopt a Senior month. But, it also brings up another important point. HAVE A PLAN FOR YOUR DOG IN EVENT OF YOUR DEATH. Not a topic many like to think about, but you never know what may happen to you, and then to your pet afterwards. You should never assume your family will be able to keep your dog, or even want to for that matter. Never assume they will re-home is properly as most people know little about the way Dogdom works when it comes to such things. Have a plan and a back up plan. Select trusted family or friends to see if theyd be your dogs god parents to take the dog in or to rehome your dog properly should something untoward happen to you. Check out the rescues. Let your family know what you have planned for your dog. If you have money to leave behind, consider willing some to go towards long term care for your dog once you are gone to ensure your dog continues to get the level of care you would have provided. These are things to think about, to talk about, to arrange now, not later. winnipegsun/2014/11/07/older-dogs-need-protecting
