*EXCESSIVELY LONG STATUS WARNING* This is now the 2nd time I have seen girls younger than me, girls just starting their college careers, beautiful, talented, unique, intelligent girls, altering their bodies in photoshop before posting photos of themselves on social media. There is now an app for that. No one is going to tell you your legs arent skinny enough, you are too short, or your your butt isnt big enough; that comes from inside. PSA to all girls who feel this every day, most likely 90+% of us who are self conscious about one thing or another. Technology is great. Keeping in instant contact with the people we love, sending messages, photos & videos over some cloud in less than 15 seconds... amazing. But using technology to change the physical appearance of your body and portray yourself in a more perfect and ultimately unnatural way is really saddening and frankly has me scared for young women and their future daughters. Imagine in 20 years, you show your daughter some old photos from college and she notices something off about it. Wherever technology is in 20 years wont matter. Youll have to explain somehow. Or lie. Youll still remember that you took the time to physically change your body in hopes of what? Making friends, keeping the ones you had, making yourself feel better, blending in? NONE OF THOSE are viable answers, live it up! Its college and if you ever meet someone who makes you feel like youre not beautiful, kick em aside and move along to the people that are enjoying life!! Those people know how to do it, become one of them and you will forever be happy in your own skin. (Goodbye soap box... See you again hopefully never)
