EXCLUSIVE 7 DAY #WINTER WEATHER OUTLOOK NORTH & CENTRAL #GEORGIA 10:15 PM ET THU 1/16/14 [FRI-SUN] There is a slight chance of a few snow flurries Friday night and Saturday night across far North and mainly Northeast #GA as a series of cold fronts move into the state this weekend. The chance of this happening is low and no accumulation is expected. [MON-THU] Another blast of cold air will invade the area on Wednesday. A few flurries are possible in far NE GA but no major winter weather is expected at this time. Otherwise, no winter weather is expected for the rest of this period. [EXTENDED OUTLOOK] LATE JAN - EARLY FEB Latest computer models show a storm system right over us next Saturday Jan 25th. If this model holds, there could be an interesting winter weather event here if this all plays out. Models show heavy presip moving in with a major shot of arctic air colder than weve seen in the past few weeks but not as cold as earlier this month. Highs would be in the 30s and lows in the 10s if this model holds true. I will continue to monitor this and watch for trends next few days. Again, this is for NEXT Saturday so a lot can and will change between now and then. [ABOUT MODELS & FORECASTING] When i look at computer models i am looking for trends, or if the same weather feature is going to happen in the same area as it was forecast to hours or days earlier. Most of the time, these models change daily and may not even come into agreement until the late minute or even days before an event is forecast to happen. If computer models are in agreement for hours or even days, its a good bet that weather event will happen. These models help forecasters look down the road to see whats coming weather wise and try to alert the public as soon as possible. [Forecaster: David]
