EXERCISE OF THE WEEK: BACK SQUATS The major muscle groups used during a squat is your gluteus medius and maximus (your bum bum) and quadriceps, also great for the core, adductor group, lower back and hamstrings. Ensure that the all your weight is in your heels making sure they do not at any point lift off the floor. Engage your core and dont forget to breathe, inhale as you go down exhale as you drive yourself up. Maintain a flat back, keep shoulders retracted and head and chest up at all times. And remember, a squat is not a squat if yo ass aint to the grass, so ensure that your thighs are parallel to the floor, the deeper you go the better. Not everyone is flexible so just getting as much depth in your squat as you can is good enough, be aware of your lower back ensure it doesnt tilt or arch, the neck should be in line with the lower part of the back.
