EXERCISE TO STIMULATE, NOT TO ANNIHILATE The world wasnt formed in a day, and neither was my big belly, my high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or my diabetes. Exercise programs advertise fast results. We live in a microwave society, where everything happens fast, and everybodys patience goes away. My chronic health issues happened over time (try 50 years!), a consistent pattern of eating everything I could get my hands on and not exercising adequately. Fixing my chronic problems took the same thing- a consistent lifestyle that nourished my body with the right kind of foods, and an exercise program that builds gradually on itself through consistency. It happens every year in January- people feeling guilty from overdoing their eating, as well as a sedentary lifestyle in the last year. Then they overdo it when they go to the gym. They then end up so sore and tired that they start to dread going to the gym, and eventually they quit going all together. They feel guilty for not following through with their goals, so they drown their guilt in a double cheeseburgers and large fries. Kind of an endless cycle, huh? Be careful when you start exercising: ---Set small goals and build upon them. Small gains each week are better than large increases only one week. ---Dont try to do movements that hurt to do them. You dont want to get injured and not be able to exercise at all. ---Try to change-up your workouts each day. The same thing every day will cause you to get bored and lose interest. ---No matter what kind of exercise program you decide to do, make sure it includes at least 30 minutes of cardio work 5 days per week. You might lose weight faster if you need to, and it will help make your heart healthier at the same time. The cardio can include fast-pace walking, running, biking, swimming, as well as other movement exercises. *****REMEMBER- DONT MAKE DECISIONS ON YOUR EXERCISE PROGRAM TRYING TO JUST LOSE WEIGHT. Exercising can help you lose weight over time, but working out should be more about improving your health. REMEMBER, YOU CANT OUT-EXERCISE A BAD DIET! For the most part, your weight will adjust to what you put in your mouth over time! EXERCISE FOR YOUR HEALTH, AND DO IT SMARTLY! If you are doing the right things with your diet and your exercise, the results will astound you! Every day, you will feel better and have more energy. Its very exciting, but it wont all happen overnight. Have a great day- make the most of it.
