EXERT ROM THE TRIBAL CAFE ...... Tohunga Teachings The higher grade of tohunga, were the exponents and upholders of what is termed the aristocratic type of Maori religion, the cult of the Supreme Being, lo of the Hidden Face. This higher-class was confined to that grade of tohunga and to men and women of superior rank ; its secrets, practices, and teachings formed the most highly venerated and most intensely tapu portion of the secret lore of the Maori. The tohunga of a lower grade were upholders land exponents of the departmental and tribal gods, and practiced the ceremonies and ritual pertaining to them. A third class of tohunga occupied the position of tohanga rongo [medicine man], and the gods appealed to were tribal and ancestors. In addition to these, any person might act as the medium of the spirit of his defunct parent, grandparent, or other relative. Among Maori the higher type of religion is by no means clear ; it is in the hands of a small class, and is most jealously guarded. This intensely conservative feeling, this rigid retention of the superior - by the few, is the reason why, for so many. years, we knew no details pertaining to the higher type of Maori religion. No popular work on the Maori contains any particulars concerning it. No early collector gathered more than the name of the Supreme Being. The information concerning Maori religion contained in the various works on Maori is but a meager quantity, and is connected with the lower phases only of that religion. In order to learn more, the seeker must turn to the Journal of the Polynesian Society. The Tohunga Hinengaro teachings had been passed on by word of mouth of how the tohunga performed their seemingly magical feats which is based on the root words of the Waiata and Karakia [chants and prayers] The essence of tohunga hinengaro teachings is that the human being is made up of three selves, or minds. They can most easily be called the subconscious mind, the conscious mind, and the super-conscious mind. The tohunga call the conscious mind the Ngakau manako , or middle self. This middle self is the part of the human that is conscious of its own existence and has the ability to reason. It has also been given free will to create as it pleases, along with the low self. The subconscious mind is called the Manawa maha or low self. It is the part of the human that presents the unconscious material to the conscious mind so it may reason for or against it. The low self is the storehouse of all memory and the seat of the emotions. Its form of meditation is considered to be that of animal-level reasoning. The term low has no reference to rank or importance, only to the fact that it is below the level of consciousness of the middle self and to the fact that its bodily center is in the solar plexus rather than in the head. The third part is the high self, called the Harakoa by the tohunga The high self is the older utterly trustworthy parental self of spirit. This higher self lives at a higher plane of consciousness outside of the physical body. It will not intervene in the affaires of life unless asked to do so. This is understood to be a cosmic law the high self must adhere to. The high self has a higher form of meditation than the middle and low selves have. It is the part that direct dreams, intuitions, and premonitions through the subconscious self. Tohunga hinengaro teaches that it is the high self that constructs your future form your thoughts, hopes, and fears of the middle and low selves. The high self is supposed to be able to see into the future as far as your thoughts have been crystallized. As thoughts change daily in the lives of the middle and low selves, so does the future change, according to tohunga hinengaro teachings. Tohunga hinengaro also teaches that communication with the high self occurs quite naturally during sleep. It is in that contact that most of the thoughts of the day are supposedly averaged by the high self and used, by some mysterious mechanism, to materialize conditions in your future. The tohunga hinengaro teaches that each of the three selves has its proper role to perform in the life of each individual. Life, health, and happiness have to do with the integration, blending, and harmonizing of these three selves. The other basic teaching of tohunga hinengaro is that people are made up of ten basic elements. To understand this concept it is necessary to understand the threesome of mind-force-matter. It is believed that the basic vital force, or energy, in a persons body is divided into three voltages. The lowest voltage is that of the lower, or subconscious self. This same vital force when used by the middle self or conscious mind, is thought to be raised to a higher voltage. In the same way when the vital force is raised to the level of consciousness of the high self, it is raised again to an even higher voltage. The basic vital force of a person changes according to which self is using that energy. The last element of this threesome is that of matter. Tohunga hinengaro teaches that each of the three selves has a shadow body, or semblance body. The shadow bodies are metaphysical bodies that are thought to be exact duplicates of everything that exists in the physical world. It is these energetic molds that hold all physical from together. Everything that has ever been created has a shadow body. The shadow body of the low self is said to be a mold of every tissue of the physical body. The low selfs shadow body hence looks like the physical body except that it is metaphysical in form. Tohunga hinengaro teaches that all memory is stored in this shadow body of the low self. The shadow body of the middle self is an energy body in the region of the physical head. The low and middle selves, hence, interpenetrate the physical body with their shadow bodies. The high self has a shadow body also, but it does not interpenetrate the physical body. The high self is connected to the low self by an energy cord. This energy cord has been called the silver cord in other mystical teachings. The tenth elements is the physical body, which is the vehicle, or instruments, in which the low self and middle self operate and live. Tohunga hinengaro teaches that the high self-expresses all the divine qualities- compassion, patience, love, forgiveness. It is the ideal to which the middle self is to aspire. It is a step advanced in the mental powers and creative abilities. The high self is also considered to be a combined community of spirits. High selves are considered to be individual in identity and yet one with all other high selves at the same time. The high self is also considered to be a perfect blending of masculine and feminine, an robot self. The shadow bodies of the three selves are made of a substance called aka [vine]. Aka has a sticky and elastic quality to it and can stretch without breaking. This substance is also a perfect carrier and conductor of vital force. Accordling tohunga hinengaro teaches, the lower selfs shadow body is capable of changing shapes temporarily or permanently to form a connecting thread between the middle self and the high self. If you have a good relationship and a strong rapport with your low and high selves you have developed these aka threads into aka cords. It is upon these aka threads and cords that vital force and thought forms travel. Every time you contact your low self, your high self, any object, or any person in the world you are sending out aka threads. When contact is made between two persons, a long sticky thread is drawn between them. Further contact adds other aka thread, and they become braided together into an aka cord. A aka cord results in a strong rapport between the two individuals. Telepathic communication, according to tohunga hinengaro teachings, has to do with the traveling of vital force and thought forms along aka cords. This telepathic sending of thought forms and vital force can occur among the middle, low, and high selves, and between two people who have a strong aka cord connection. Every thought you think has a shadow body around it, also as a thought is formed it is fastened by a thread of aka to the thought threads that came before it. This concept is the explanation for the association of ideas which is acknowledged by modern psychology. In other words, a given thought attracts the threads of all similar thoughts. Another extremely important aspect of tohunga hinengaro teaching is the importance of mana, or vital force. Mana is the basic energy in all things. The tohunga hinengaro teaches that mana is taken from food and air by the low self and stored in the low selfs shadow body. This vital force in the lower selfs shadow body can be used for anything the middle self wants. When used by the middle self the mana is raised from the shadow body of the lower self to the physical head region of the middle self and in the process of being raised is changed in some subtle way. This force, when raised, is called the will by modern psychology. When the middle self does not use this will power as it should, the lower self acts out and flits from one activity to another without carrying out any suggestion or command effectively. The low self is thought to be like a child. It needs to be loved, and it needs to be treated firmly and in a disciplined manner. A real physical child, if spoiled and not given any discipline will act out. It is the same with the lower self. That is why it is essential that the middle self raises the mana for use as will power. The middle self is the reasoning mind which is like the parent of the low self, just as the high self is the parent of the middle self. The three selves are gradations of consciousness. The tohunga believe that God is a triple being, just as people are triple beings. They term these three levels Atu, Mauri, and Wairua. This concept of God associates with that of other religions such as Christianity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), and Hinduism (Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva). The tohunga believe that the process of evolution is one of moving through these levels of consciousness back to eventually a moment with God the Creator, or Io. Making karakia to the high self is similar to the process that is used between the low self and the middle self. Once the middle self has raised the vital force from the shadow body of the low self to use as will, it can do whatever it wants to do with that energy. Such will can be used for physical exercise or controlling the lower self or thinking or praying or anything else. This process of karakia to the high self involves raising the vital force or mana, up from the middle self to the next voltage. Tohunga hinengaro teaches that the high self cannot manifest a karakia unless it receives the needed mana from the middle and low selves. Thus, it is essential, tohunga hinengaro teaches, to accumulate a surcharge of vital force before beginning to pray to the high self. A great deal of emphasis is given in the tohunga hinengaro teachings to how this is done. Tohunga hinengaro teaches a number of ways to accumulate extra energy: 1.Asking and commanding the low self to build up a surcharge of vital force for use in karakia. 2. Physical exercise 3. Deep breathing, which causes more blood sugar to be burned-- 4. Posture. 5. Nutritious food. 6. Visualizing vital food rising like a fountain of water from the base of the spine up through the top of the head. 7. Holding a mental attitude of gaining personal power and strength such as the attitude you would maintain when preparing for a race 7. Proper sleep and rest. 8. Affirmations spoken out loud, The universal life force is flowing into me now. I can feel it! In addition to the need for a surcharge of mana, there is the need for the Clearing of the Path. Clearing the path means removing all thought forms that could sabotage the karakia. Such thought forms can occur in the conscious or the subconscious mind. Tohunga hinengaro teaches that the only sin that exists is hurting another person. You must balance out the hurt on all levels. The last step in the process is to create a proper thought form karakia. Tohunga hinengaro teaches that thoughts are like seeds. They create reality. You clear the path, remove negative thoughts in the low and middle self. You can write your thought form karakia on paper. Now visualize it. Build up a vital force in the shadow body of the lower self for the use of the middle self when the karakia action begins. Say the karakia aloud three times. Karakia Wairua i toku wairua; i toku aho no te atua; i toku aroha; i toku hiahia; i toku mau tauira; [I am the Soul; I am the Light Divine; I am Love; I am Will; I am Fixed Design]. This, I have termed the karakia wairua . Please give this karakia a try, in building your Wairua Aka Mauri and also in everything else of a spiritual nature that you do. I have never met anyone who didnt feel the effects from using it. The only line in the karakia that people sometimes dont understand is the last one which refers to the plan of the soul for the current incarnation. This karakia is the beginning of all healing techniques. Even if you are working with another karakia, begin your meditation by saying the soul or karakia wairua three times and then meditate with your other karakia . This karakia is like an activation tool that signals the soul, and the monad to go into action to do its part of the program in response to your invocation. Now you must see the karakia manifested. Do this daily until the desire result is accomplished. Tohunga hinengaro teaches this is the same process that accounts for the phenomenon of Matariki Huna Nui. This usually refers to the physical objects over long distances by the Wairua [spiritual spirits]. The explanation the tohunga hinengaro gives is that the bodiless wairua spirit somehow obtains an accumulation of extra vital force and uses it to dematerialize the physical object into its semblance, or shadow, form, then moving the object to the desired place and materializing it back into physicality. Tohunga hinengaro teaches that it is also possible for the high self to control such things as weather, animals, insects, plant life--actually anything in this physical plane. The final goal of tohunga hinengaro teachings is the integration of the three selves. Wairua Aka Mauri Uenuku Piriti The Wairua Aka Mauri is the thread that is usually spoken of that the learner creates through meditation, understanding, spiritual practices, and specific focalized spiritual work to create the thread, and later cord of energy. The disciple does receive help from the soul and later the Wairua in this process, however, the first half of the work must be done by the disciple. The Wairua already has a thread or cord of energy that extends from it to the heart Aka of the disciple on earth. This cord of energy is called the Mauri, life thread, or silver cord. The soul has a thread or cord that extends from it to the pineal gland of the disciple which is called the consciousness thread. Knowledge utilizes the consciousness cord. Wisdom energy utilizes the Wairua Aka Mauri when it is built and make it totally activated. The Wairua Aka Mauri is like a spiritual filament of light that is built like a spider builds his web. This thread is spun by the disciple in life after life, and it is only that which is of a spiritual vibration that can energize it. The consciousness cord contains the mental qualities from the soul. The Wairua Aka Mauri is constructed of only spiritual/mental qualities from the soul. The Mauri and consciousness cord have been constructed since mans first inception into the material world. The Wairua Aka Mauri has grown very slowly because a person has to step on the probationary path for this work to even begin. The Mauri and consciousness cord work from above downward. The Wairua Aka Mauri works from below upwards. In the final stages of the building of this cord at the fifth initiation and ascension these three cords merge, integrate and blend together, just as the personality, soul, and later on, the monad merge. It is through the creation of the Wairua Aka Mauri that this whole process is allowed to take place. The building of the Wairua Aka Mauri is like laying a cable or bridge between three great countries [personality, soul, and Wairua]. This bridge building occurs in stages. The first stage of this building deals with integrating the personality and the four bodies. The second stage is then building the bridge from the integrated personality and four bodies to the soul. The third stage is building the bridge from the soul to the spiritual threesome and then to the Atu, Mauri, and Wairua itself. This process reaches a total completion at the fourth initiation when the soul body or causal body, which stores all the virtue and good future, burns up. Then the fire of the Wairua pours down the Wairua Aka Mauri to the soul , who has been the mediator between the personality and Atu, Mauri, and Wairua. The soul or higher self is no longer needed and has merged back into the Wairua so all that is left is the soul infused personality and the Wairua who is now the guide. Even though a strong Wairua Aka Mauri has been built to the spiritual threesome and Wairua , a complete merger of Wairua /spiritual threesome and the soul infused personality has not taken place. It is at the fifth initiation that these two aspects merge together in consciousness. At the sixth initiation they merge not only in consciousness, but completely into the four bodies, physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual, and the entire Wairua infused personality and bodies turn into light. The initiate has become an Ascended Master at this, the sixth initiation. It is the Wairua Aka Mauri that the disciple has built between the personality, soul, spiritual Wairua, that has allowed this whole process to take place. It is also at this point that the Mauri, consciousness cord, and the Wairua Aka Mauri have merged together, just as the monad, soul and personality have merged together. This results in the immortality of the physical form. Just as God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit are three minds that function as one, we are three minds, Wairua, soul, and personality, that function as one. The microcosm is like the macrocosm. Spirit and matter, Father and Mother have merged. The Wairua Aka Mauri has been the bridge of light or the lighted way, in which the disciple has passed to the higher worlds. It is through this bridge and lighted way that he has attained liberation and ascension. The master, at achieving this integration, has also helped to build the planetary Aka Mauri . This is the Aka Mauri for the entire earth and humanity as a whole. Each soul extension on earth builds one thread of the planetary Aka Mauri , which makes this whole process easier for the ones that follow us. Te Wairua Aka Mauri It is important to understand that the Wairua Aka Mauri in actuality, does not just stop at the karakia. In reality it continues up all the way to the Godhead. If you would like you can send your Wairua Aka Mauri all the way to Atua even before ascension, when you work in your meditations, and you will get a response from Atua, and He will meet you with his finger of fire, and/or thread of light substance. So even the Ascended Masters are continuing to build their Wairua Aka Mauri , as they evolve into cosmic planes of existence. As we move into the next dimension people have seen new colors in rainbows: Turquoise, supposedly the color of the new heart Mauri - Electric Blue and Magenta. When you next see a Rainbow and the arc is a segment of a perfect circle. Look for where the center of the circle lie. The center of the circle of the rainbow, Is on a dead straight line that runs from the center of the sun, through the back of your head and out between your eyes and keeps on going until it meets the plane of the rainbow. What it means is the rainbow you see can only form on the line that runs from the sun through YOUR head. No one else can see your rainbow but you. If i was standing there with you, I can see a rainbow, too, but mine is coming from raindrops a meter to the left of yours because I am standing a meter to the left of YOU. If I stand in front of you on your line, then I am seeing a rainbow from raindrops that far behind yours. I still cant see YOUR rainbow, nobody can except you. Every rainbow is absolutely personal to the person who sees it. The rainbow is not an object, it is much more special . We can both look at a tree or a cloud and see the same object, but while we are both looking at a rainbow, I am looking at mine and you are looking at yours, and we can not share the experience. Look at your shadow on the ground. See how the shadow of your head is EXACTLY in the center of your rainbow. Every rainbow you see is an aura around your head, and if you can see your shadow, you can prove it every time. Whats more, the aura is there all the time, you just have to get it in the way of some water droplets in order to see it.
