EXO NAMED THE MOST POPULAR K-POP BOY GROUP OF 2013! Popular Korean media outlet, Dispatch, published an article this week ranking the top K-pop boy bands and girl groups of 2013. They took multiple things into account, including Youtube views, global iTunes positions, music sales, number of members in official fan clubs, endorsements, music program wins, and more. EXO came first in the boy band category, which wasn’t much of a surprise. They swept the charts with their last single, “Growl,” and their XOXO album and its repackaged version have sold almost a million copies combined in less than five months. They’re also known for having a rabid fan base in both Korea and China. Just two years after their debut, EXO has become one of the top idols in the industry. Their most eye-catching statistic is their music sales. XOXO (Kiss Version) was released in August, selling almost 240,000 copies and grabbing the number one spot in that category. They are not only popular in Korea but also overseas. Their MV for Growl garnered more than 14 million views on YouTube, making the group number one in yet another category.
