EXQUISITE! As I Posted Yesterday...I Am Blessed,To Have Been{with my Father} Able To Enjoy AnceSTAR Ellington & Band>>>IN TRINIDAD!! Thanks to my Parents...our Home was filled with-Ebony,Jet,Black World,*Works of Langston Hughes{who invited my Father to Turtle Island/North Am.}>the sounds of:-The Duke,Sarah Vaughan,Ella Fitzgerald,Lionel Hampton,John Coltrane,Miles Davis,Billy Eckstein,Billie Holiday,,,,& More>>> And At My GranMAs...my Uncle had Albums & 45s featuring:-Sam Cooke, Brook Benton,Dina Washington,The Temptations,Four Tops,The Miracles,Stevie Wonder & on & on! Add These To Kaiso{Calypso},East-Indian and a host of other Musics & Traditiona,Afrikanl Cultural Components:-Orisa,{A}Rada,etc....and you can appreciate why I Bow to my Elders & AnceSTARS...Every-Time! ASE-O! These days,I Emphasize:-K.A.I.S.O.!{Keep Arts In Schools-O!},Since thats where the Children will more likely be inclined to venture forth into Jazz,etcetera; since ,a Classroom of competitive Peers...& Music-loving, Talented-Teachers> {Tools-equipped:-Instruments/Films/Field-Trips/Assemblies(Special Guests),etc}, can work wonders....with the Children eventually drawing-in the Parents,& other members of the Comm UNITY! Example:-An Afrikan-American Teenager,{who was regularly suspended from the now closed Paul Robeson High School,Oakland}...joined a Dance Class taught by Jackie Artman & MySelf! She was rude to Jackie,& I let her know that as a Daughter,that wouldnt work.Her heated:-You are not my Father,etc...boiled down,and subsequently:-her whole attitude...& Dance ability improved Tremendously>>>No more Suspensions! When the Program was about to be Cut...She not only attended & objected,at the Oakland School Board Meeting,,but ,She Brought Her Mother...who attested to how much the Class had helped her Daughter>>>>Timing.et al! Having worked at MANY Schools,*I Know:-K.A.I.S.O. Is Where Its At Primarily... Apart From At Home! ONE LOVE!
