EXTENDED LINER NOTES - THE THANK YOU SECTION of The Turn The Turn is dedicated to the global fan base that is LIVE Special Thanks – There are many interrelated parts to making a LIVE album with none more important than the team that surrounds and supports the band. Chad Gracey, Patrick Dahlheimer, Chris Shinn and Chad Taylor are grateful for your years of dedication and service to LIVE. From late night phones calls, to endless hours of engineering, arrangement and production the band has unearthed the emotions, execution and dedication to present new inspired music after twenty-eight years of creative collaboration. No words can express our gratitude; hopefully the music itself is thanks enough. Simon Renshaw for believing when all others had doubt; Jonathan Levine for advocating for the fans and ultimately reminding us about our own passion; Louis Appell for reminding how vital and important our hometown of York, PA is to our art and our ability to express it; Michael Andretti, Marco Andretti, James Hinchcliffe & Ryan Hunter-Reay, Matthew Brabham & Carlos Munoz for taking our music to the limits of speed, engineering and technology (the faster you drive, the harder we rock!); Jerry Harrison for setting the bar and literally showing us the way for more than twenty-years of musical artistry (you are and always be the Zen master of LIVE); Dave Grohl and Lars Ulrich for kicking Chad Taylor in the ass to return to his musical roots; Kevin Martin and Sean Hennesy for helping us reconnect to the spirit of rock n’ roll; Carson Slovak for rising to the occasion and task of helping us to remember just how great we can be without training wheels, and for hosting the best Facebook page ever; Don Carn for giving birth to First Aid – Public Affection – LIVE; Peter Freedman for giving your life to our music; David Sestak for all your wisdom, grace and composure through good and bad times; Phil Schuster for introducing LIVE to the world; Howard Stern for keeping the very spirit of rock n’ roll alive and well…..and for the countless hours of entertainment as we tour from city to city; Greg Janese for handling all the details behind the scenes of a LIVE tour with little recognition, and for reminding all the global promoters about the power of a LIVE show; Rolling Stone for putting us on the cover (hey, it still gives us chills); George Shinn for delivering the good word and believing in our intentions; the Kinsley family for constructing the majestic and powerful Think Loud Studios; Horacio Malvicino for designing the ultimate paradise of sonic bliss that is Think Loud Studios; the Butz family for you’re your unconditional love and support in helping the band realize multiple dreams at many levels; Zander LeFever for adding your creativity, sonic treats and backing vocals; Suzie Hyder for her dedication to our families (you rock girl – best in the biz); Dana Alexandra for lending your voice to our cause and helping to keep York alive with new artistry; Aishlin Harrison for blending perfectly with our entire team, your inspired vocals and perfectly placed criticism when needed; Tom Lord-Alge for bringing your musical passion to each and every great LIVE album since the beginning (LIVE fans know how much you mean to the process – it’s not LIVE until its been spanked by TLA!); Brian Smith for holding space while we returned to form and always reminding us how much you love the songs on Mental Jewelry; Bill Thompson for your years of hard work getting LIVE to every show throughout the globe (not to mention a few bumps in the road) and introducing us to Simon; Ken Carson for producing Think Loud with LIVE; the entire Aurora Films staff for always believing in LIVE; Lucia Del Giovanni for taking and curating the best LIVE photos ever imaginable (we trust you so much that you are really the only person to truly capture the essence of the band); the entire Think Loud family of employees who ensure that LIVE are able to make music and tour the globe; Ward McDonald for being crazy enough to transplant and immerse himself in our musical world; to the United Fiber & Data team for your sponsorship of our philanthropic endeavors, including our North American tour; to the staff of GC Pro, you’ve helped align LIVE with the tools needed to capture and replicate the ideas in our minds eye – its more than gear (we truly appreciate your dedication to our fans and our touring enterprise); to our parents, without your guidance, support and love we would have surely failed. Extraordinary thanks and gratitude is reserved for Matt Gracey, our longtime friend and coconspirator in the world that is LIVE. You’ve stood watch over us as only a true brother would. Without question, the name LIVE, the music and the band wouldn’t exist without your ever present care for us as people and musicians. You have always been the keeper and and protector of LIVE (even when we didn’t deserve it). For your nearly thirty years of service, we’re forever indebted to you. On behalf of all the LIVE fans, we thank you. Bill Hynes is a character like no other. LIVE fans may never understand how important his role was in holding Chad, Patrick and I together, and helping to bring Chris into the fold. It’s fair to say that without Bill there may have been no more LIVE. It takes a true leader to gather and focus a bunch of rockers with three decades of musical journey under their belts. Bill pushed the band to be at its best, to endeavor the tough conversations, to forgive, reminisce and remember just what the spirit of LIVE was about. Without ever playing a musical note in his life, he willed music back into our lives. He rarely get’s the public respect he deserves for protecting the members of LIVE and our families. We are humbled by your hard work and remain grateful to be your business and spiritual partners. Every note on this album reflects your believe in us. Thank you, thank you, thank you. To our lovers, sons and daughters we owe you everything. You’ve filled our lives with the very platform that births the joys and sorrows that make up the fabric of our music. You’re integral to our journey on the stage, in the studio and most importantly in the sanctuary of our homes. As hard as it is for us to leave you behind to tour, we recognize that your burden is greater. We acknowledge that without you there would literally be nothing to return home to. We hope our fans also hold you dear as there is a great deal of suffering that must happen for us to tour. Our love and devotion to you, our family, is more important to us than life itself. We hope that our recordings leave behind a legacy that you will forever enjoy with your children’s children; and also with the many lives we’ve impacted through our art. It is with utmost love and devotion that we humbly offer these recordings to you.
