EYE BAGS? I am more convinced then ever that wonders never cease. The BBC reports that Singaporeans are having injections to create bags under their eyes as a beauty enhancement. Pray tell, how did this come about? The South Koreans (who started this trend) call it aegyo sal or "cute skin." This is something of a paradox. As far as I know - in the conventional world of beauty at least - eye bags are not usually associated with attractiveness. In fact, they underscore tiredness and ageing. But now, in Singapore, adding small bulges to the lower eyelid is said to make one feel more youthful and friendly. Plastic surgeons claim the effect created is different from bags caused by sleep deprivation. They say the enhancement creates an illusion of larger, friendlier eyes because it mimics the tightening of a muscle that normally flexes when people smile. Would you pay MYR 2,500 per jab to have bags under your eyes?
